Ice Pile Drivers Help Rebuild New Orleans

Nearly four years after Hurricane Katrina, the rebuilding of New Orleans canals and levees are about 50% complete. The task of faced by the Army Corps of Engineers is daunting in the scope of work required to help lessen the risk of the damage caused by Katrina. In fact this represents the largest design build project in the Corps history. This effort has been aptly named Task Force Hope, when it is finished it will have taken 6 years and the repair/replacement of 220 miles of levees and floodwalls, new flood gates and pump stations at the mouths of 3 outfall canals, and strengthening of existing walls and levees.
