| Problem | The company encountered unexpected underground conditions which required the caisson diameter to be increased from 10.33' to 11.8'. With the larger size the original 150KW (200 HP) would no longer be able to do the job. As a result the project was delayed. |
| Solution | FACE, I.C.E.'s subsidiary company in Hong Kong, brought in a 44-50 with an 11' caisson beam. The first series of caissons were 10.33' (3.15m) in diameter and 98' (30m) in length. The second series was 11.8' (3.6m) in diameter at ther same length. The contractor fabricated a special bracket on top of the caissons to fit the 11' beam. |
