Comacchio Drill Rig Product Line February 12, 2010

Comacchio drill rigs, known for their dependability and functionality, have become a well-known sight on many project sites where their efforts are being used in a variety of manners to solve difficult and challenging issues. Project managers, foundation contractors, and a litany of operators will vow for their utility, reliability, and accurateness when a project demands a drill rig that can accomplish a critical task.

The ever-improving development of drill rigs has been an evolving benefit for engineers and project managers alike. With each improvement in the technology of the manufacturing of these machines there is a recognizable gain in the field where the true test of improvements can be measured.

Drill rigs have long been recognized for their ability to provide construction workers with abilities that can be instrumental in a variety of efforts; however, these techniques were performed by man or animals until the 19th century. Rods were inserted into a hole in the ground and turned by leveraging clamps that were attached to the rod. The advent of the internal combustion engine in the late 19th century changed the manner in which the process was powered; in the 1970s the improvements to machinery led to the drills that have evolved into today’s powerful and nimble machines.
Commacchio drill rigs are available in a variety of types to assist construction efforts in most all types of areas; however, the manufacturing of these rigs is mainly based on four different types of drilling equipment.

MC Line

The “MC Line” is Commacchio’s basic line of articulated hydraulic and multiuse rigid crawler drill rigs that are suitable for numerous variations of specialized drilling. These rigs are capable of assisting in the efforts of water well drilling and geothermal shaft drilling, anchor drilling, geotechnical works, and ground consolidation. The range of activities that can be accomplished with this line of products is a prime reason why they are leveraged in such a wide variety of fields. The MC-100, one of the smaller models in the portfolio, delivers up to 35Kw of power while weighing roughly 2,300 kilograms. At the top end of the line is the MC-3000; which delivers 188Kw of engine power and tips the scales at just under 40,000 kilograms. This wide range of power and weight places the MC line in high demand due to its versatile applications.

MC-T Line
These drill rigs are typically installed on trucks. They are multiuse and hydraulically powered and are leveraged mostly for water well drilling and geotechnical applications. The lighter models are often placed on vehicles that can egress difficult terrain; which makes them an ideal choice for water well drilling where a flat surface on which to drill is uncommon. The more powerful models deliver up to 300Kw of power for efficient drilling efforts, but must be mounted to a heavier duty vehicle as the weight of the machine can be near 10,000 kilograms.
MC-E Line
This line of drill rigs is unique as it can be found attached to crawler excavators (also commonly known as ‘track-hoes’ on construction sites in the U.S.) These machines are mainly used for anchor drilling and ground consolidation works. The ability of the excavators to access most any area on a construction site makes it a versatile machine that can provide benefits in a wide variety of applications.

MC-S Line

This line of products highlights the efforts that Commacchio will enlist to resolve a client’s needs. This specialized group of products is comprised of hydraulic drill rigs that are custom designed to meet the challenges that specific clients may have.
Commacchio drill rigs have a wide range of applications that can assist in achieving desired results on typical construction and drilling efforts, and can also be custom manufactured to satisfy even the most exacting specifications when needed.
