Rising out of the Atlantic waters in Riviera Beach, Florida, Singer Island stands as a dynamic barrier island defined by its iconic high-rise condominiums and high-stakes oceanfront real estate. In an era of escalating coastal erosion and shifting tidal patterns, the natural buffer of this narrow strip of land has faced unprecedented geological pressure. The Delfino Condo Seawall project emerged as a critical private response to these environmental challenges, transforming a vulnerable stretch of multi-family residential shoreline into a fortified defensive barrier. This heavy civil marine initiative serves as a landmark example of how South Florida communities proactively adapted to the region's strict new structural stabilization laws and elevated building codes to safeguard high-density coastal assets.

To execute this high-stakes engineering feat, the property enlisted the expertise of Shoreline Foundation, a premier contractor widely recognized for its specialized capabilities in heavy civil marine engineering. Shoreline's construction crews made significant on-site progress, driving straight-line sheet piles and securing the vital waterfront barriers. The comprehensive scope of work involved the installation of approximately 400 (LF) of 45' (ft) long steel sheet pile seawall, heavily reinforced to provide long-term coastal protection and strengthen the high-rise condo foundation. Beyond the structural wall itself, the team installed new wooden access stairs to provide residents with safe and convenient access to the beach, successfully balancing heavy-duty safety requirements with community lifestyle enhancements.

Conquering the demanding coastal geology of Singer Island required a formidable equipment setup, leading Shoreline Foundation to deploy a powerhouse configuration from International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®). The crew selected the legendary ICE® 66C Vibratory Driver and Extractor, pairing it with the dependable ICE® 800 Power Unit to drive the 45' (ft) steel sheet piles alongside the substantial steel caissons and H-piles into the oceanfront strata. This heavy-duty application was further supported by specialized ICE® rigging, utilizing an ICE® 6' (ft) beam paired with ICE® 145 caisson clamps to ensure rigid stability and exact alignment during the driving process. This precise combination of high-amplitude vibration and secure clamping allowed the team to push through critical build stages efficiently, minimizing impact on the surrounding marine environment while meeting strict engineering tolerances.

The successful stabilization of the Delfino property underscores a complex intersection between private asset protection and regional environmental management, as the rise of these private seawalls directly influenced county-level logistics for public beach nourishment and dune restoration. By deploying the rugged ICE® 66C system, Shoreline Foundation effectively mitigated the unpredictable risks of oceanfront construction, establishing a permanent line of defense against the sea. International Construction Equipment applauds the exceptional field execution demonstrated by Shoreline Foundation on this project, and celebrates their commitment to engineering a safer, more sustainable Florida coastline through the use of our premier driving technology.
