Montana Helical Piers (MHP), a trusted name in the construction industry, is making waves with their expertise in deep foundation systems, shoring, and helical pier solutions. Known for their commitment to customer satisfaction and innovative problem-solving, they are currently working on a private project in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area. This project is a testament to their resourcefulness and adaptability under challenging conditions.

Serving multiple states, including Idaho, Montana, Washington, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon, North Dakota, and South Dakota, Montana Helical Piers specializes in a range of services including new construction foundations, earth retention systems, wall repairs, underpinning systems and more.

At the Coeur d'Alene project, Montana Helical Piers is utilizing their previously purchased ICE® 44 Vibratory Hammer from International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®), a robust and efficient tool designed for pile driving and extraction. With an eccentric moment of 4,400 in-lbs, a maximum frequency of 1,400 vpm, and an impressive driving force of 128 tons, this hammer is built to handle a variety of pile types, including sheet piles, H-piles, and pipe piles. It is important to note that the efficiency of ICE® Vibratory Hammers and Drills heavily relies on the quality of their hydraulic hoses. The Hose Company supplies robust and flexible hoses that withstand high pressures and harsh environments. This collaboration guarantees that ICE® equipment maintains peak performance, contributing to successful and timely project completion.

On this specific job, the ICE® 44 was used to drive 10x57 HPx40' long soldier piles. Initially, the MHP team deployed their own ICE® 14 hammer, but upon encountering a hard layer of soil that hindered progress, they needed to re-evaluate. After speaking with their local ICE® Sales and Service representative to discuss options, they swiftly mobilized the ICE® 44 from their fleet. The larger hammer provided the power needed to overcome the soil conditions and drive the piles to the required depth.

The Coeur d'Alene project certainly came with its share of challenges, testing the resilience and ingenuity of the MHP team. Harsh winter conditions demanded robust equipment and meticulous planning to ensure operations continued smoothly despite the extreme weather. The limited access nature of the site further complicated logistics, as tight spaces and restricted routes made material transport and operational maneuvers more complex. Additionally, the unpredictable soil conditions required the team to adapt quickly, utilizing versatile equipment and strategies to overcome varying ground layers. These challenges highlight the importance of precision, resourcefulness, and adaptability in achieving project success, as well as being a testament to the equipment used.

Montana Helical Piers has risen to the occasion, leveraging their fleet of ICE® vibratory hammers to tackle these challenges head-on. Their ability to mobilize the ICE® 44 quickly ensured that the project stayed on schedule, avoiding costly delays. This flexibility, paired with the unwavering reliability of ICE® equipment, has been critical to their success.

According to the project manager, the ICE® West Coast Sales and Service Team has also played an integral role in supporting the project. Their commitment to providing exceptional service and technical assistance has further empowered Montana Helical Piers to excel in the face of adversity.

Montana Helical Piers continues to set the standard for deep foundation systems with their innovative approaches, experienced team, and steadfast dedication to customer satisfaction. With projects like the Coeur d'Alene undertaking, they demonstrate their ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver results that exceed expectations. Brilliant work to the entire MHP team! International Construction Equipment is pleased to have been a part of this project's success and looks forward to our next partnership
