Gorman and ICE® Power Up Coastal System

In the heart of Panama City, Florida, a vital infrastructure project is underway to support Florida Power & Light's (FPL) energy resilience and delivery systems. Located near the Gulf Coast, this site has long been a strategic hub for utility operations and storm-hardening efforts. The project, estimated at several million dollars, is on track for completion in early 2026. With temporary shoring now in place, excavation and concrete placement (totaling 4,000 cubic yards) will soon begin, marking a major step forward in the foundation phase.
To tackle the demanding sheet pile installation, Gorman deployed an ICE® 612 Vibratory Driver/Extractor, an industry workhorse known for its power and efficiency. The equipment was used to drive 60-foot steel sheets into the ground, forming the backbone of the temporary shoring system. Outfitted with Hydrauli-Flex™ hoses, the ICE® 612 ensured optimal hydraulic performance and minimized downtime, allowing the team to meet aggressive scheduling goals. Rented and serviced by the local Florida ICE® Team, this hammer proved essential in navigating the coastal soil conditions and achieving the depth and alignment required
