Idlewyld’s New Armor

Merle Fogg Park stands as a vital defense mechanism for the city of Fort Lauderdale and is located in the heart of downtown where seasonal tidal flooding and high king tides pose a consistent threat to the surrounding urban landscape. Nestled along the famous Las Olas Blvd. and the upscale Idlewyld neighborhood, this waterfront park serves as a critical community hub and a scenic gateway for both residents and visitors seeking recreation near the city's busy marine corridors. Preserving this particular shoreline became an absolute priority for local infrastructure managers in the past few years, leading to a dedicated municipal investment to overhaul the aging barrier. This critical seawall reconstruction wrapped up ahead of schedule during the summer of 2026, successfully fortifying the bustling downtown waterfront just in time for the regional peak of the seasonal tidal events.

To tackle this highly visible marine infrastructure project, the city turned to Ebsary Foundation Company, a contractor uniquely suited for complex South Florida environments due to their deep-rooted history in regional maritime building. Established in 1922, this multi-generational family business has been pioneering foundational and marine construction services throughout Florida for over a century, famously building the original City of Miami docks back in the 1920s. Ebsary Foundation Company has spent decades mastering everything from complex sheet piling to heavy cofferdams on landmark South Florida projects, earning a sterling industry reputation built on character and engineering excellence. Their extensive technical background in handling delicate, high-traffic coastal zones made them the ideal partner to manage the precise logistical demands of a downtown Fort Lauderdale public park.

A high-powered ICE® 28 Vibratory Driver/Extractor was mobilized on the downtown work site, rented from International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) to deliver the exact deep-foundation force required for the coastal terrain. The engineering team selected this specific vibratory hammer configuration because of its proven reliability and industry-leading eccentric moment, which allowed them to smoothly drive heavy structural pipe piles and interlocking steel sheet piling directly into the dense marine soils. To ensure peak hydraulic efficiency and fluid velocity under intense load conditions, the setup featured durable Hydrauli-Flex™ hoses to power the system through continuous driving cycles without pressure loss. Operating seamlessly within the tight footprint of the public park, the rented ICE® assembly allowed the crew to rapidly anchor the new shoreline barrier with minimal disturbance to the surrounding downtown neighborhood.

Safeguarding the treasured downtown waterfront path brings immense peace of mind to the local community, and the regular visitors of Merle Fogg Park are incredibly thankful to the construction crew for securing their neighborhood asset. International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) extends its deepest appreciation to Ebsary Foundation Company for choosing their deep foundation line to fortify the South Florida coast, valuing the opportunity to support another landmark build alongside a true pioneer of marine construction.
