The Sunset Bay Marina in Hull, Massachusetts is a full-service marina with over 200 slips and moorings, winter storage, boat service and repair, and a restaurant all only 10 minutes away from downtown Boston. To keep the vessels docked here throughout the year safe, new wave attenuators were put in to dispel the waves from reaching the marina at full force.

Atlantic Coast Tug, a newly formed family business, took on the project of driving the pilings for these wave attenuators.  Wave attenuators act as a deterrent to waves, reducing the waves energy and disposing initial height, thereby protecting watercraft, shore erosion and facilities from potential damage.   

Atlantic Coast Tug, spoke with their regional ICE® installation specialist to help them choose the proper install technique and equipment for the task. The ICE® 44B Vibratory Driver/Extractor was selected to place the 36" steel caisson piles at a 70-foot (70') length. The ICE® 44B can effortlessly drive piling both on land and in marine conditions. The ICE® 44B drove these caissons for the attenuators with ease and has saved the marina from further destruction.
