Myrick Marine Drives Transformation with ICE® Precision

In the heart of Thunderbolt, a historic working waterfront is being rebuilt with purpose and precision. The Blue Moon Marina project marks the transformation of the legendary "Old Co-op Dock" into a premier superyacht facility, honoring the town's maritime roots while delivering next-generation marine infrastructure.

Scheduled for completion in late 2026, the multi-million-dollar redevelopment centers on 900 linear feet of new dockage, including a 550-foot floating concrete system engineered to berth the 198-foot superyacht Blue Moon. The project demands deep foundations capable of withstanding the powerful currents and challenging subsurface conditions of the Wilmington River.

The developer selected Myrick Marine Contracting Corporation to execute the high-stakes waterfront construction. With more than 45 years of experience along the Georgia coast, Myrick Marine brings specialized expertise in deep-water pile driving, heavy civil marine construction, and complex tidal environments.

To anchor the new wharf and bulkhead systems, Myrick's crews are driving large-displacement concrete piles and heavy-duty steel H-piles designed to deliver the axial and lateral load resistance required for superyacht mooring. Foundation operations are powered by an ICE® I-36v2 Diesel Impact Hammer, delivering 126,300 ft-lbs of rated energy with an 8,000-lb ram at up to 52 blows per minute; ensuring each pile achieves verified bearing capacity in dense lower strata.

"This is not surface-level construction," said a Myrick Marine spokesperson. "Every pile is driven to perform. In these tidal conditions, precision and strength are non-negotiable."

Upon completion, Blue Moon Marina will position Thunderbolt as a premier destination for the global yachting community; supported by deep foundations, engineered resilience, and the uncompromising execution standards that define Myrick Marine.

This amazing transformation of the Old Co-op site is a point of immense pride for the community, which is thrilled to see the waterfront bustling with productive energy once again. International Construction Equipment (ICE®) is honored to support Myrick Marine's skilled crews as they reshape the Thunderbolt skyline. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Myrick team for their continued trust in our rental fleet. Together, we are ensuring that the spirit of the Georgia coast remains vibrant, sturdy, and ready to welcome the next generation of mariners.
