Transforming a Coastal Landmark
February 4, 2026
The recently executed Lawrence Street Marina revitalization project marked a major investment in the continued growth and appeal of the downtown waterfront district in Corpus Christi, TX. Long serving as a gateway to the city's vibrant waterfront, the Lawrence Street Marina offers one of the most accessible public entry points to the harbor and acts as a backdrop for festivals, fishing events, and seasonal gatherings. As a central link between the shoreline, nearby parks, and the downtown district, the marina also plays a key role in supporting tourism and local businesses. With aging timber piers reaching the end of their service life, the city initiated a major revitalization effort to modernize the facility and strengthen the economic and recreational value of the waterfront. The project, brought to completion in the summer of 2025, focused on replacing deteriorated structures with durable concrete floating docks designed to improve safety, resilience, and long‑term usability for boaters and visitors alike.
To deliver this transformation, the city selected Callan Marine, a contractor widely recognized for its expertise in complex marine construction and its ability to execute precision work in environmentally sensitive coastal settings. Callan Marine's portfolio includes numerous waterfront infrastructure upgrades, and their reputation for reliability, technical skill, and innovative problem‑solving made them an ideal fit for a project requiring both careful demolition and high‑quality dock installation. Their familiarity with regional marine conditions and their commitment to safe, efficient operations further reinforced their suitability for this high‑visibility community investment.
At the heart of Callan Marine's field operations was a suite of ICE® equipment selected for its versatility across multiple pile types and its dependable performance in challenging marine conditions. For this particular project, the Callan crew operated an ICE® 44E hammer paired with an ICE® 595H power unit, outfitted with several specialized clamp configurations to address the project's diverse requirements. A modified ICE® 75 timber clamp allowed the hammer to securely grip 10" to 12" timber piles during the removal of the aging pier structures, while an ICE® sheet clamp facilitated accurate placement of the small‑diameter steel piles needed for the new dock system. For pipe pile installation, the team relied on a beam‑and‑clamp assembly that delivered steady handling and consistent driving results. Durable Hydrauli‑Flex™ hoses completed the setup, ensuring reliable hydraulic flow and added protection in the harsh marine environment, an essential factor in maintaining efficiency and uninterrupted progress throughout the project.
As the renewed marina welcomes boaters, families, and visitors back to the waterfront, both the community and International Construction Equipment express their appreciation to Callan Marine for their craftsmanship and dedication to enhancing a cherished public space. The project stands as a testament to what skilled contractors and dependable equipment can achieve together, leaving a lasting improvement that will serve the area for generations. Amazing work, to all!
