The Harlem River waterfront and FDR Drive corridor are vital arteries in New York City's infrastructure network, serving both as key transportation routes and as buffers against coastal flooding. As part of the city's broader resiliency initiative, a major construction effort is underway to reinforce this critical area against future storm events and rising sea levels. Once completed this significant project will help protect surrounding communities and infrastructure while enhancing long-term sustainability along the riverfront.

Trevcon Inc., a seasoned marine and heavy civil contractor, is leading the charge on this important effort. Their scope includes the installation of permanent sheet piling along the Harlem River and FDR Drive; an essential part of the flood protection system. With extensive experience in complex urban environments, Trevcon is well-equipped to handle the technical and logistical challenges of this high-profile project.

To drive the sheeting, Trevcon is utilizing their own ICE® 28 Vibratory Hammer, a reliable workhorse from their fleet of International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) deep foundation arsenal. When the Trevcon team met subsurface obstructions that prevented the sheets from reaching grade, they turned to ICE® once again; this time renting an ICE® IP-3 Hydraulic Impact Hammer. Outfitted with the innovative "Pants" attachment, the IP-3 can sit directly on the sheet pile without the need for traditional leads. These leg-like extensions slip over the sheeting like a clothespin, offering greater flexibility and ease of use in tight or irregular conditions.

To keep operations running smoothly in these demanding conditions, Trevcon is also relying on high-performance hydraulic connections that deliver consistent power where it's needed most. These rugged, Hydrauli-Flex™ hose lines are engineered to handle the intense pressures of deep foundation work, ensuring that both the ICE® IP-3 and ICE® 28 hammers operate with precision and reliability, even when the job throws unexpected challenges their way.

Looking ahead, Trevcon will soon be adding an ICE® HS-50 Rotary Drill and a set of ICE® 26" (in) leads to their equipment lineup for this project. The drill will be used to bore out previously driven pipe piles, which will further enhance their ability to adapt to evolving site conditions and maintain project momentum.

This enterprise is a cornerstone of New York City's climate resilience strategy, and ICE® is proud to support Trevcon with both owned and rental equipment. We thank Trevcon Inc. for their continued trust in International Construction Equipment, Inc., and we applaud their commitment to building a stronger, safer future for the Harlem community.
