Ultra-Lum has once again teamed up with International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) for their 43rd billboard installation, this time in Tyngsboro, MA. While the project seemed straightforward, it came with unexpected challenges, requiring creative solutions and specialized equipment.

Instead of their standard pipe pile method, Ultra-Lum utilized 12 H-beams, each 43 feet long, driven vertically to provide structural integrity. The ICE® 44 Vibratory Hammer, fitted with an ICE® Model 140 universal clamp, played a key role in securing the piles to bedrock at 40 feet deep, forming a rock-solid foundation.

Unlike traditional billboard installations where the pipe column is simply driven, this billboard features a concrete cap onto the driven H-beams, with the lower column securely cast into the concrete. This specialized approach enhances stability, ensuring the billboard remains resilient against severe wind forces. Supporting this advanced foundation setup, Hydrauli-Flex™ hoses ensured seamless hydraulic efficiency for the ICE® 44 Vibratory Hammer, allowing Ultra-Lum crews to drive the H-beams with accuracy and reliability.

This creative execution not only provided a strong foundation but also showcased the expertise and adaptability of Ultra-Lum and ICE® equipment in solving complex site challenges.
