ICE Model 28 Shines on Star Island 

Star Island is a neighborhood in the city of Miami Beach on a man-made island in Biscayne Bay, Florida.  The name "Star Island" is thought to have originated from the fact that many of the homes on the island were once owned by famous celebrities and high-profile individuals, giving the island a "star-studded" reputation. Famous celebrities who have lived on the island are Shaquille O'Neil, LeBron James, and Jennifer Lopez. The island was constructed in 1922 by the Army Corps of Engineers by dredging sand to create the man-made island structure. The land was initially owned by developer Carl Fisher, who purchased several land parcels of what would become the city of Miami Beach. The best way to access the island is by using the MacArthur Causeway and it is just 10 minutes from South Beach and Downtown Miami. The Island consists of 45 private waterfront lots, with an average lot size of 40,000 square feet (ft²) offering 100' (Ft) of waterfront by 400' (Ft) of depth.  

With the Island being close to the Atlantic Ocean along with the heavy boat traffic, the homes on Star Island need to be protected from waves constantly hitting the shore. Three properties on the island were purchased recently and are having a new seawall installed. International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) has had equipment working on the job and the project contractor will be using an ICE® Model 28 Vibratory Hammer to drive steel sheet pile for the sea wall along the three properties. This new seawall will prevent erosion, flooding, and keep these luxury lots safe during tropical storms and inclement weather.  

Few people get access to Star Island besides its residents which made this a special project. International Construction Equipment, Inc.
