NJ's Route 22 Redesigned

Route 22 Redesign

Route 22 in Union Township, NJ is receiving a new look. This new project will replace the existing bridges carrying Route 22 eastbound and Route 22 westbound over Route 82 located between the Garden State Parkway Exit 140 and Exit 140B, which are in poor condition and will be coordinated with other infrastructure work currently being completed on the Parkway. Improvements and construction will cover a wide area of Route 22, east and westbound, Route 82 (Morris Ave.), as the purpose of this undertaking is to improve the operations of Route 22 and Route 82, helping traffic flow more smoothly and improving safety, especially with the lane crossovers being eliminated in the new design.

Union Township is a highly dense town that sits just west of Newark, NJ. It is home to over 60,000 residents and that number continues to grow, explaining why this project is much needed. Joseph M Sanzari Inc, who specializes in highway and heavy construction, were selected to update the infrastructure of Route 22. To complete this project, Joseph M Sanzari Inc will be using an ICE® 44 Vibratory hammer to help remove and set up piles for the new bridges and exit ramps. The piles will be hammered into the bedrock for the foundation to be set, following the completion of the new overpasses. The $40.8 million state-funded project will also include the installation of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) with camera installations and a digital message sign along with an upgraded storm water drainage system.

International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) is thrilled to be a part of such an important plan of action serving the thousands of commuters and residents in Union Township, NJ with their transportation needs. Fantastic work Joseph M Sanzari Inc and thank you for choosing ICE®!
